The Redding Host Lions have a long history of doing our part to make Redding a better place. We do all we can to help in many ways, but we have two things that are near and dear to our hearts that are our main focus: Vision and Juvenile Diabetes. Throughout the year we support many charity groups and organizations with our fundraising and efforts with the Camp McCumber Diabetic Camp being at the forefront.  We are probably best known for sponsoring our annual All-Star Football Game featuring the best high school football players from the northstate. This event is dedicated to supporting the Camp McCumber Diabetic Camp which helps children with Type 1 Diabetes learn to live with their condition.

We also are very active at our local elementary schools providing vision screenings and help provide eye exams, eye glasses, and hearing aids for those needing assistance. Our annual Student Speaker Contest provides an outlet for students to hone their public speaking skills with the opportunity to move into the club, regional, state, and national spotlight. We provide scholarships for disabled students at Shasta College, present a program to increase our children’s awareness of patriotism and what our flag stands for on Flag Day, put on an annual golf tournament, sponsor a Peace Poster Contest to lift up local elementary school artists, collect funds for White Cane Days to support those afflicted with blindness, support the City of Hope which cares for sick children at no cost, participate doing vision screenings at the annual Homeless Connect Program, host 6 very successful blood drives a year, and educate our members on important topics with weekly speakers from our communities.

We meet every Thursday at 12 noon at the Lulu’s 2230 Pine Street,  Redding, CA. Our Board Meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of every month.

Your charitable gift to Redding Host Lions enables compassionate humanitarian services in Redding. Your donation will help low income individuals who need eye exams, eyeglasses, hearing aids, vision screenings, and more.  This will help us host events, including the All-Star Football Game that helps support Camp McCumber Diabetic Camp, which helps children with Type 1 Diabetes learn to live with their condition.
